Women of Achievement to be Honored
The annual Women of Achievement event will celebrate seven honorees this year. The Women of Achievement event was established in 1993 to publicly recognize and honor the contributions women make in our community. In 2006, the YW Legacy Fund was established by the board members of the former YWCA with the intent to annually provide grants to individuals and organizations who strive to make Salina a better place for women and their families.
Monarchs suffer lopsided loss to Studs but still advance to bracket play

Two men injured in Derby stabbing incident
Police in Derby are investigating an early morning stabbing that sent two men to a hospital. Officers were called to the 1400 block of North Nelson around 2:20 a.m. Wednesday after an employee at a business called 911. Toddler rescued Sunday in Moundridge
MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. — According to a social media post from Moundridge police, a 14-month old was rescued Sunday afternoon. Just before 2 p.m., Moundridge police, fire and EMS were called to a report of a juvenile needing assistance. The child was trapped underground inside a PVC pipe. The pipe was about 12 inches in diameter and 10-12 feet deep. The child was apparently uninjured and upright in the bottom of the pipe.
