Atrium hospital earns Joint Commission spinal surgery accreditation
Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health Pineville has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification in Spine Surgery. This is the third Atrium Health hospital to earn a surgery designation from The Joint Commission, and the facility is one of just 23 in the country to have a Gold Seal in spine surgery, according to a July 18 news release from the health system.

Youth crime is still a major concern for CMPD, according to mid-year crime report
As youth crime rises, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has continued to look for ways to decrease it, including the hope for a new detention center facility. According to the department’s mid-year crime report, more than 1,600 juvenile arrests have been made so far this year. Most notable arrests include violent crimes (220) and crimes related to property (902) from January 1 through June 30.
