The Washington State Debate Coalition (WSDC) has canceled its Oct. 11 gubernatorial debate between Bob Ferguson and Dave Reichert in Ellensburg, the agency announced Thursday. The decision to cancel the debate comes after possible miscommunication between WSDC and Ferguson’s campaign, with WSDC claiming that Ferguson withdrew from the debate after “months of planning and repeated conversations with the campaign to stay the course and proceed as planned with the event,” and Ferguson’s campaign claiming Ferguson “never committed to this debate at any point in the process.”

Doval overcomes ‘tough spot' in triumphant Giants return vs. Mariners
Camilo Doval didn't have any time to ease back into action upon his MLB return in the Giants' 4-3 win over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday at T-Mobile Park. The flamethrowing right-hander fittingly was thrown into the fire in the seventh inning -- an unfamiliar situation for a player who served as the Giants' closer for a majority of the last three seasons.
Mike Yastrzemski homers as Giants survive Blake Snell's wildness, beat Mariners 4-3
SEATTLE (AP) — Mike Yastrzemski homered among his three hits, and the San Francisco Giants survived a wild outing by starter Blake Snell to beat the Seattle Mariners 4-3 on Saturday. Snell, who grew up near Seattle, walked five batters in the second inning, two with the bases loaded, and issued a season-worst six walks overall. He struck out two batters in a perfect third inning before being pulled. Snell gave up two runs on no hits and threw 74 pitches, 42 for strikes. “Internally, I just got mad at myself,” Snell said. “They had no hits, so giving up two runs on no hits is pretty bad. Coming in and talking to myself, figuring out something’s got to change, that’s what I needed. I’ve got to do a better job in the moment.”
