Two people from Green Bay are in custody following a high speed chase in Fond du Lac County in a stolen vehicle. The chase started in Winnebago County and continued into Fond du Lac on Lakeshore Drive where the vehicle nearly struck another vehicle head on. The chase ended when the vehicle struck a tree on Morningside Drive. The male driver and female passenger exited the vehicle and were arrested. Nobody was injured.
Two Perish in Monday Plane Crash Near EAA Airventure
Two persons, the sole occupants, died when the plane they were in went down near the EAA Airventure, Oshkosh event on Monday. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office said the plane went down at about 12:50 p.m. in a farm field in the area of Old Knapp Road and Nekimi Avenue in the Town of Nekimi, about two miles south of the EAA Airventure event. Air traffic controllers at the Wittman Airport were the first to report the incident, which drew response from the Sheriff along with fire departments from the Cities of Oshkosh and Van Dyne, the Nikimi Fire Department and First Responders, along with the Wisconsin State Patrol and members of the National Transportation Safety Board.

NEKIMI, Wis. (AP) — Authorities say a plane crashed in a Wisconsin farm field near the site of an air show, killing the two people on board. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office says sheriff’s deputies and firefighters responding to the crash in the eastern Wisconsin town of Nekimi on Monday afternoon found the aircraft fully engulfed in flames. The crash site is about 2 miles south of the 71st EAA AirVenture air show, which began Monday at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
