HIGHWAY 4 ST. JAMES TO SLEEPY EYE PROJECT UPDATE
Construction on the Butterfield Creek bridge north of St. James has started. MnDOT says traffic is detoured to Watonwan County Roads 3 and 32 and Highway 30 until mid-August. Highway 4 from Sleepy Eye to Brown County Road 24 remains closed to traffic as replacement of the bridge over the Cottonwood River south of Sleepy Eye continues. Traffic is detoured to Highway 14 and Brown County Roads 8 and 24. Resurfacing on Highway 4 from St. James to Sleepy Eye is expected to begin later this summer and traffic will be detoured to Highway 14, Brown County Road 8, Watonwan County Road 5 and Highway 30. The project is expected to be done sometime in early October, weather permitting. Greater Mankato Growth hosts listening session with businesses hit by flooding
MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Greater Mankato Growth hosted a listening session today with business owners impacted by the recent flooding. The session was held on Zoom, hosting at least a dozen businesses around the area who have received flooding damage, as well as representatives from affected cities, counties, and the state. It was a chance for the businesses to share with those representatives what damage they’d received and where they still need help with recovery efforts.

SE School Board votes to close the swimming pool
The Sibley East School Board, during its regular monthly meeting in Arlington on Monday night, July 15, voted 5-1 and approved a motion to close the swimming pool by the end of August. In addition to the motion, the swimming pool will close immediately if there is a major repair.
Bishop, Central Minnesota Residents Join Thousands at 10th National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis
(KNSI) – Dozens of central Minnesota residents made the pilgrimage to Indianapolis for the 10th annual National Eucharistic Congress. The event began in May when over 10,000 people started walking to the city carrying the Eucharist. On the way, the march stopped at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. The congress is the first gathering of its kind in 83 years. Bishop Patrick Neary of the Diocese of St. Cloud called the event historic. “I mean, how many American Catholics have been to one of these national celebrations? And so we are so blessed, but you guys really are the base of Christ. You are his disciples as missionaries. With the joy you have, the example of your family lives, your faith and your commitment.”

Oliver Berg, a student at Delano High School, has been crowned the National Middle School Storytelling Champion by the National Speech & Debate Association. The seventh-grader won the June 21 competition in Des Moines with his performance of the Japanese folktale “The Jellyfish and the Monkey,” Head Speech Coach Barb Shofner said. Wrong-way driver cited after several close calls on 35W
BLAINE, Minn. — A driver was cited Thursday after going the wrong way down 35W in Blaine, nearly missing dozens of vehicles.
