Despite scattered afternoon showers and approaching rains at dusk, Sheboygan’s Independence Day celebration was mostly smooth on Thursday, with large crowds lining downtown streets for the parade, filling city parks for events and picnics, and the sounds and smells of fireworks filling the air after dark. Not everything was without problems, though, as the Sheboygan Police Department reported numerous cases of underage drinking, one man burned at a pit fire at the close of the fireworks, and online reports of a large fight breaking out at DeLand Park.
