Triumph Motorcycles has made history on the closing Sunday of the Sturgis Rally when veteran flat track racer “Slammin’ Sammy” Halbert won the inaugural American Flat Track AdventureTrackers race during the class debut at the Sturgis TT run through the middle of town. Fittingly, the very first Sturgis Rally was actually a race held on August 14, 1938, with 9 competitors. Fast forward to August 11th, 2024, where 9 racers once again lineup on the starting grid of a new race. Niobrara Council responds to state auditor’s allegations of mishandling funds
VALENTINE, Neb. - The Niobrara Council is responding to the Nebraska state auditor’s allegations of mishandling public funds. The nonprofit, which helps manage the Niobrara National Scenic River, is sending a letter to the auditor stating that it’s not a state agency and therefore not required to issue a statement of corrective action. However, the Council is making changes in response to the auditor’s concerns.

VALENTINE, Neb. - Court documents reveal new information in the case of an Arkansas man accused of hitting and killing a bicyclist with his vehicle near Valentine on June 29. Adam Earl Joe Cooper, 35, of White Hall, Arkansas plans to plead not guilty to two Class 3 felonies: motor vehicle homicide and failure to stop and render aid in serious injury or death. He’s accused of killing 82-year-old Larry Covalciuc, who was a participant in Tour de Nebraska, a five-day, 350-mile bike ride across Nebraska.
