Weekend crash in northeast Iowa claims the life of an Illinois man
WINNESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa – A weekend crash in northeast Iowa killed an Illinois Man. It happened around 1 pm Saturday on Highway 9 near 260th Avenue in Winneshiek County. The Sheriff’s Office says a caller reported seeing a vehicle go off the road and disappear into the ditch. A deputy was sent to the location and found an SUV on its roof in the ditch and a man lying on the ground who had been thrown from the vehicle.
ServSafe Food Protection Course
DECORAH — Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is sponsoring ServSafe, the national certification program for food service managers. The course will be held in Decorah on Monday, July 29 at the Winneshiek County Extension office, located at 2316 Sweet Pkwy Rd. All food service operations are required to have at least one certified staff person. Anyone interested in preparing and serving safe food is welcome to attend.

Public invited to complete survey for 5-County Long Range Transportation Plan through UERPC
Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission (UERPC) is conducting an update to the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) for the five-county region consisting of Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek Counties in northeast Iowa. The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) requires that the region’s LRTP be updated every five years. The current plan was adopted by the Upper Explorerland Transportation Policy Board in September of 2019.
