A recent string of car break-ins has police once again urging residents to lock their car doors.

At least 14 cars were illegally entered overnight Feb. 13-14 in Winnetka, according to the Winnetka police reports. Multiple burglaries reportedly occurred on Boal Parkway and in the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Asbury Avenue.

In many of the reported break-ins, nothing was stolen; however, a laptop was stolen from one car, a bag of sporting equipment from another and sunglasses from another.

In a vast majority of the break-ins, the vehicles were left unlocked in driveways.

Police are reminding residents to lock their cars even when they are at home and to call 911 when witnessing any suspicious activity around vehicles.
