All of the Southeast Minnesota County Fairs for 2024
It's the start of fair season in Minnesota! All of the county fairs across southeast Minnesota are coming up quickly, and one of them even starts this week. I remember going to my local county fair every once in a while as a kid and sometimes we'd go to the Minnesota State Fair. But I mainly grew up going to the Iowa State Fair with my grandparents every year.
United Way of Olmsted County announces $1.1 million in investments
ROCHESTER, Minn. – The United Way of Olmsted County (UWOC) says it will be investing $1.1 million in 48 partnerships in Dodge, Olmsted, and Winona counties. “At United Way, we understand that no single organization can ensure that all people are healthy,” says Jerome Ferson, UWOS President. “Investing in a variety of local programs to ensure that basic services are available is just one step to creating a community where all people can thrive. Together, we can make Southeast Minnesota an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Drunk driving charges possible in UTV crash
(KWNO)-A UTV crash in Minneiska could lead to charges of drunk driving. A Winona County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson says several people were riding UTVs on Saturday afternoon near the 300 block of Taylor Hill Road. One of riders, 49-year-old Gerhardt Eide of Houston, Minnesota, lost control on a gravel road and slid “40 to 50 feet” down an embankment. Eide suffered only minor injuries, but deputies suspected he was intoxicated. Drunk driving charges are pending the results of a blood test.
UPDATE: Winona assault suspect taken into custody
(ABC 6 News) — The Winona County Sheriff’s Department has announced that suspect Stig Ure has been taken into custody. According a press release from Winona PD, officers took an assault complaint in the 250 block of Junction Street around 5:20 PM. Ure had assaulted a business employee with a sharp object, but he fled from the scene. The employee received non-life threatening injuries.
