Both 14u Cali Crush girls softball teams went undefeated in tournament play this weekend.

Cali Crush Pink was 3-0 in Winona. But with heavy rain on Saturday, the fields were not playable for Sunday’s games.

The Cali Crush Gold team took part in the 14u Gold State Tournament in Eden Prairie, and went 4-0 to win the 14u Gold Championship.

Cali Crush Pink started their tournament in Winona with a matchup against Holmen, Wisconsin. They won the contest by an 18-2 decision.

Top batters for Caledonia included Lily Augedahl, who went 2-3 with a double, Ashlyn Reinhart went 3-4 with two doubles, Chloe Kruse went 2-3, Kinley Frank went 2-2 and Faith Morrision McCallister went 3-3. Raiya Goetzinger pitched a complete game while only giving up three hits and striking out seven.

Game two saw the Crush face off against the Winona Winstars. The Crush jumped out to a three-run lead in the first inning and didn't relinquish the lead for the rest of the game. Winona mounted a comeback that was shut down by Goetzinger with a game-ending strikeout with the bases loaded.

Top batters for the second outing included Nyah Rommes going 2-3 with a double, Ayla Lange going 1-1 with two walks and a double, and Augedahl going 1-1 with two walks.

The final game was against the Cumberland Chaos, and they would provide the toughest challenge for the Crush. The game would go back and forth ending in a nail biter 9-7 score. The Crush girls battled to the end to victory.

Top batters for the final game included Augedahl going 2-3 with a triple, Reinhart also going 2-3, Goetzinger going 3-3 with a double and triple, Lange 2-3 with two doubles. Lange also pitched four innings with six strikeouts.

The final day was unfortunately canceled, as the fields in Winona were unplayable due to Saturday night’s rain.

The Cali Crush Gold team took part in the Eden Prairie Gold State Tournament this weekend and went 4-0 on the weekend.

The first game against the Gamblers Gold was won by a score of 13-1. Next up was the Minn. Stars, which Cali Crush won by a score of 18-0. Third up was the Minnesota Chaos; this game went 6-1 in favor of the Crush.

Finally, to secure the championship, the Crush faced off again against the Gamblers Gold team and won by a score of 3-0.

Next up for the two Caledonia teams is the nationals tournament on Aug. 2-5 in two weeks before the softball teams wrap up for the summer.
