Winona ISD providing student’s school supplies for second year

WINONA, Texas ( KETK ) – Winona ISD has announced that they’ll be providing all their student’s school supplies for the second year in a row.

“We understand the challenges that families face at the beginning of each school year,” said
Damenion Miller, superintendent of Winona ISD. “By providing school supplies for our students,
we hope to ease some of that burden and allow families to focus on preparing their children for
a successful academic year.”

The decision to ease the burden of Winona ISD parents came at a recent meeting of the Winona ISD Board of Trustees on July 15.

“We are grateful to the Board of Trustees for their foresight and commitment to our students,”
said Dr. Heather Carnes, director of federal programs. “This initiative reflects our
collective effort to prioritize education and remove barriers to learning.”

In addition to providing free school supplies, the district is also hosting their annual Back to School Bash on Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Winona ISD. The free event will have carnival rides, snow cones, cotton candy and more for Winona ISD students.
