KENT—In recent months members of the Kent Informal Club decided to disband the organization that has existed since the 1940s. The group was formed as an opportunity for women to get together, socialize and educate themselves. The first by-laws from May 8, 1947 state the club’s object as to “bring together congenial people at convenient intervals to consider any subject and engage in any activities that may seem agreeable.”

Tim Limbos hired as new fire marshal
KENT—The Fire Marshal Hiring Subcommittee interviewed Tim Limbos Tuesday, June 18 for the position of fire marshal that was recently vacated by Stan MacMillan. After a short executive session and a discussion with Limbos about the job, the committee, consisting of First Selectman Marty Lindenmayer, Selectman Lynn Mellis Worthington, and Building Inspector Joseph Manley, voted to recommend him for employment to the selectmen. He will be paid $40 an hour for the part-time position.
