The Salvation Army of Greater Winston-Salem Raises $177,000 at the 2024 Hands and Hearts Dinner

WINSTON-SALEM — The Salvation Army of Greater Winston-Salem extends a heartfelt thanks to all sponsors, speakers, volunteers, board members and council members who made the 2024 Hands and Hearts Dinner an overwhelming success. With their support, the event raised an impressive $177,000, marking a remarkable 30% increase from last year’s total.

The Hands and Hearts Dinner, held on April 18 at The Salvation Army Ken Carlson Boys & Girls Club in Winston-Salem, was a celebration of community and compassion, with the theme “Invest Today, Strengthen Tomorrow.”

Attendees experienced an evening filled with inspiration, entertainment, and a deep sense of giving back.

“We are extremely grateful to our sponsors, speakers, board members, council members and volunteers for their unwavering support,” said Major Andrew Wiley, area commander of The Salvation Army of Greater Winston-Salem. “The funds raised at this event will make a significant impact on our programs, including the only family shelter in Forsyth County, the Center of Hope, The Salvation Army Ken Carlson Boys & Girls Club, the community pantry in Kernersville and our various outreach efforts.”

In addition to supporting existing programs, funds raised at the Hands and Hearts Dinner will also contribute to the opening of The Salvation Army of Greater Winston-Salem’s new Teen Center, scheduled to open its doors in Summer 2024. The Teen Center will cater to adolescents aged 13 to 18, with a particular focus on those facing income disparities. It will offer avenues for volunteerism, extracurricular involvement, certifications, essential financial literacy resources, as well as access to local job opportunities.

Daniel Glascoe, managing partner of Village Tavern Hanes Mall, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Village Tavern is honored to be a part of such a meaningful event. We are proud to support The Salvation Army of Greater Winston-Salem and their commitment to helping those in need within our community.”
