Northern Regional Hospital Named Best Places to Work for Fourth Consecutive Year by the Triad Business Journal

The Triad Business Journal announced that Northern Regional Hospital has been selected as a Best Place to Work for the fourth consecutive year at an event held on May 23 in Winston-Salem.

“This accolade highlights the hospital’s unwavering commitment to fostering a workplace culture centered around people, purpose, and passion,” hospital officials said.

The Triad Business Journal’s Best Places to Work program is known for recognizing organizations that prioritize employee satisfaction, engagement, and well-being as fundamental elements of their success, the hospital said.

“Being named a Best Places to Work for the fourth straight year is a tremendous honor and a testament to the dedication of our team,” said Chris A. Lumsden, president and CEO at Northern Regional Hospital. “At Northern, we recognize that our employees are our greatest attribute, and we are committed to providing them with a supportive and enriching workplace environment.”

Northern Regional Hospital goes beyond traditional employee benefits by investing in initiatives that support the growth and development of its workforce and the community. The hospital has implemented a growth and community engagement initiative that supports its 1,000 employees and residents in pursuing advanced education opportunities. Additionally, the hospital invests more than $350,000 annually in healthcare academic pursuits for employees and students, furthering its commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

In 2020, Northern Regional Hospital established a leadership academy aimed at nurturing and developing the next generation of healthcare leaders. To date, 40 employees have graduated from the six-month program, equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to drive innovation and excellence in patient care.

“We are immensely proud of our team members whose hard work and dedication have once again earned us a place among the Best Places to Work,” added Christi Smiley, vice president of human resources. “At Northern, we believe that when our employees are empowered to grow, learn, and lead, everyone benefits — our team, our patients, and our community.”
