SALISBURY — The North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking public input on the the transportation plan for 2026 through 2035.

The department will be holding public meetings between mid-June and mid-July. The meeting for the division that contains Rowan County will be held at 4 p.m. on July 9 at the NCDOT Division 9 office, located at 375 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC. Public comment will also be allowed by an online survey, located at https://live.metroquestsurvey.com/?u=oq8i8y#!/?p=web&pm=dynamic&popup=none , or by phone, email or mail to Division Planning Engineer Fred Haith at 336-747-7800 or fdhaith1@ncdot.gov .

The online survey asks for members of the public to select proposed projects throughout the state and state whether it should be a prioritized project or not and gives an opportunity for further comment.

Proposed projects in Rowan County include the N.C. Highway 152 bypass, the N.C. Highway 52 bypass, upgrading the rail service between Charlotte and the Virginia border, widening N.C. Highway 150, a passenger rail service between Salisbury and Asheville, upgrading the railroad between Charlotte and Winston-Salem and a taxiway project at the Mid-Carolina Regional Airport. Also included are multiple intersection and interchange improvements and the modernizing of older roads throughout the county.

Input will be taken online or to Haith through July 17. The NCDOT has offered auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Acts for disabled community members who want to provide input, according to the department website. Anyone who wishes to receive special services is asked to contact Haith at the above number or email as soon as possible.
