Presque Isle to create diversity committee
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Presque Isle aims to create a diversity, equity and inclusion committee that would, in part, review flag and other ceremonial requests. During a Wednesday workshop on a proposed flag display and ceremonial ordinance, leaders took no formal action but discussed ways to ensure multiple views can be represented.
New commercial fishing pier to be built in Boothbay Harbor
The Boothbay Region Maritime Foundation has recently signed a contract with Fuller Marine to build a new pier and seawall at Carter’s Wharf, 87 Atlantic Avenue, the former site of the Sea Pier. The seawall will be constructed from granite and will be raised to meet current FEMA flood zone height requirements. The pier will have a poured-in -place concrete deck. The site plan has been engineered by Gartley and Dorsky Engineering & Surveying, the seawall has been engineered by Summit Geoengineering Services with Gartley and Dorsky and the pier has been engineered by GEI Consultants, Inc.

Rockland police investigate robbery at Bangor Savings Bank
ROCKLAND (WGME) -- Police are investigating a bank robbery in Rockland. Police say a suspect wearing a bandanna and sunglasses robbed the Bangor Savings Bank on Camden Street around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. No weapons were displayed, and a note was given to the teller demanding money, according to police.

A proposed land-based fish farm in Jonesport is closer to breaking ground after a court denied an appeal of the project's local permits. Maine's Business and Consumer Court rejected the appeal from project opponent Protect Downeast, which argued that the town's planning board misinterpreted the local land use code when it approved the project.
