In her sixth successful ride, Jeanette Mero can finally claim the most coveted title in endurance riding: the Tevis Cup. The Mariposa, CA native completed her 100-mile journey to Auburn's McCann Stadium at 10:05 p.m. Saturday night to win the 68th Tevis Cup, finishing with a final time of 17 hours and five minutes. Sacramento Faces Heat Advisory with Triple-Digit Temperatures Expected Amid Sweltering Week
The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a heat advisory for the upcoming week, starting tomorrow at 11 AM through Wednesday evening at 11 PM. Residents in the Central Sacramento Valley, Motherlode, Northeast Foothills/Sacramento Valley, Northern Sacramento Valley, Northern San Joaquin Valley, and Southern Sacramento Valley are encouraged to prepare for sweltering conditions with widespread triple-digit temperatures forecast. According to the NWS Sacramento Weather Forecast, this stint of heat follows a brief respite received from the cooling Delta breeze but is expected to ramp up the HeatRisk to major levels across the affected areas.
