    Lightning strike knocks out Madison County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency phones

    WINTERSET, Iowa – A lightning strike from the early morning storms has caused some communication issues for the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

    The MCSO says its building in Winterset was struck by lightning Wednesday morning and all of the non-emergency administration phone lines are down. The outage is not affecting 911 services and people with emergencies are still advised to call 911.

    More severe storms expected Wednesday after stormy start

    Union County and the MCSO are answering some 911 calls is asking callers to be patient as they are transferred to Madison County or information is relayed.

    The MCSO says they don’t know when their administrative phones will be restored but they hope it will be sometime later Wednesday morning.
