Kids On Stage, SCHS to perform 'Descendants'

“Descendants” will bring the teenage children of Disney’s most notorious villains to the stage in Pitt and Greene counties next weekend.

Both Kids On Stage in Snow Hill and South Central High School in Winterville will host performances of the popular musical.

Based on the Disney Channel Original movies, the play follows the next generation of characters, including the daughter of Maleficent, the daughter of the Evil Queen, the son of Jafar and the son of Cruella de Vil.

While all of Disney’s beloved heroes live happily ever after in the kingdom of Auradon, the villains’ descendants have been banished to the magic-free Isle of the Lost. That is until Ben, the benevolent teenage son of Belle and King Adam (from “Beauty and the Beast”), offers a chance of redemption for the troublemaking offspring.

Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos are welcomed to Auradon Prep to attend school with the children of their parents’ sworn enemies. Now entering a completely foreign world and way of life, the four villain kids have a difficult choice to make: should they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps or follow a new path?

Kids On Stage previously performed “Descendants” in the fall of 2020 as its first live musical following COVID shutdowns. Four years later, the show returns to Greene County Wellness Center, 84 N. Perry Drive, Snow Hill, with performances at 7 p.m. April 26-27 and matinees at 2 p.m. April 27 and 3 p.m. April 28. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for ages 10 and younger. Visit gckidsonstage.org.

South Central High School, 570 Forlines Road, Winterville, will present “Descendants” at 7 p.m. April 26 and 2 and 7 p.m. April 27. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults. Call 321-3232.
