POSTVILLE, Iowa — An Oelwein couple is hospitalized after the three-wheeled motorbike they were riding was hit head-on by a car. It happened around 4:15pm Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Highways 18 and 52 west of Postville. Iowa National Guard unit will return 150 soldiers back from Middle East deployment
On Friday, the Des Moines Airbase hosted a special “welcome home” ceremony for a group of National Guard soldiers returning from a year-long deployment in the Middle East. The federal government activated the 831st Engineer Vertical Construction Company (EVCC) to support U.S. Central Command in a territory encompassing 27 countries. Teen seriously injured in Dunkerton rollover; crash detection feature alerts authorities
DUNKERTON, Iowa — A teen is seriously hurt after a rollover crash near Dunkerton Saturday. The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office says the teen's cell phone alerted authorities to the crash thanks to a crash detection feature around 2:23pm Saturday in the 6000 block of North Pilot Grove Road. When first responders arrived, they found the 17-year-old in the roadway. He was rushed to UnityPoint Allen Hospital in Waterloo before transferred to University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center in Iowa City.
