Great Lakes Region- The Detroit District is hosting its 9th annual photo contest highlighting U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sites. The top 12 photographs will earn a spot in next year’s calendar. Submissions are due on July 31 with winners being chosen via social media. The Soo Locks Visitors Center Association will also award the top three photographers a plaque featuring their winning photos.
Another great day at the Grand Rapids Speedway
GRAND RAPIDS— Grand Rapids Speedway held another great day of racing on Thursday. This race there were no WISSOTA Modifieds, but were WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Hornets, Pure Stocks, Late Models, Supers and Northern Renegade Sprint Cars. At intermission there were kids power wheel races which were also very competitive. Mavrik Wohlers, Kyah Krzoska, Colt Broking and Kane Massingill all had a great time and made it to victory lane in their power wheels getting an early start to their future racing career! LaPRAIRIE— The warm memory of Scott Olson will be shared this upcoming weekend at the sixth annual Scott Olson Memorial 5K as family, friends, and runners alike will take to the streets of LaPrairie in his honor for a 3.1 mile run on Saturday, July 27. Olson, a beloved community member, was diagnosed with Blastomycosis in August of 2019 and passed away that October, leaving behind his wife Audra, daughter Cassidy, and son Ryan. ...
Missing Minnesota college student found in Montana creek
(Cooke City, MT) -- Authorities in Montana report finding the body of a college student from Minnesota who had been missing nearly two weeks. Red Lodge Fire Rescue says search crews spotted the body of Dylan Honnell of Rogers in East Rosebud Creek Tuesday and a helicopter team helped recover his body Wednesday morning. Investigators said Honnell fell into the rapids on the creek while hiking on July 12th. Twenty-year-old Honnell was a sophomore at Montana State University and a 2022 graduate of Rogers High School.
Man Reported Missing in Central Minnesota, Public Assistance Sought
(KNSI) – A 61-year-old man has been reported missing after last being seen in central Minnesota. The Lino Lakes Police Department says Thomas George Biatek left his home around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday to buy a battery for a waiting contractor. He never returned home. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says he is considered an endangered missing adult, and they are asking for the public’s help to find him.
