WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Walmart is getting a summer makeover in Wisconsin Rapids.

Kelsey Bohl, the director of corporate communications for Walmart, shared with the Daily Tribune that the renovation project is scheduled to start this summer and will take about four months to complete. The project won’t affect shoppers, however, as construction will happen after open hours, she said.

Walmart is currently open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. at 4331 Eighth St. S.

The Wisconsin Rapids remodel is part of Walmart’s “Store of the Future” project, Bohl said. When it’s finished this fall, customers can expect “enhancements” like an expanded grocery pickup and delivery department, an updated pharmacy, a new Grab & Go section, expanded deli and produce sections, a new effort on “community focused” food and merchandise, as well as a renovated apparel section, she said.

Last week, Walmart Wisconsin Rapids posted on its Facebook page alerting customers to the renovation project and sharing that orders and deliveries will come out of the front grocery entrance of the building during construction. The post advised customers to park in rows 7 and 8 for online pickup.
