Happy Tuesday and welcome to the Streetwise newsletter!

After The Store announced in May the convenience stores would end operations at the end of July, most stores were still open in August. I spent the last several weeks looking into what's happening with The Store locations, including searching into 25 property records and connecting with Team Schierl Cos. to report which stores are open, which are closed, and what's the plan so far .

I recently took a trip out to Early Girl Flower Farm , just outside of Wisconsin Rapids and talked with Stacey Burling while picking my own bouquet. She started planting flowers on her farm and offers a you-pick experience for guests.

The Central Wisconsin Children's Museum recently announced it will temporarily close next month as the museum focuses on reorganizing. The museum's executive director recently decided to leave, and the board of directors will spend time planning for the future of the museum.

While one Stevens Point group focuses on reorganization, another welcomes a new leader. The Stevens Point Area Convention and Visitors Bureau named Megan Vruwink as its new executive director after Sara Brish announced in June she would leave for a statewide role.

If you've seen construction on the corner of 12th Street South and East Riverview Expressway in Wisconsin Rapids, I have the latest details. Despite a car wash sign standing nearby, it's not the Tidal Wave Auto Spa also planned on the edge of the former Shopko parking lot, as that construction will start in 2025 .

I also shared a few Streetwise updates in the Wisconsin Rapids area . The Fallback is now Ryders Roadhouse and Grill, Caliber Collision will open in a couple of months on Eighth Street, and Evolution Throwing Co. is now open.

It's also sunflower season. If you're looking for a farm to get some photos or pick a couple sunflowers, I put together a list of places to check out in central Wisconsin .

If you have any questions or tips for future stories, send them my way at cshuda@gannett.com . If you’re interested in my colleagues’ or my coverage, please consider subscribing to the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune or the Stevens Point Journal.
