Seeding and host sites for regionals of the Wisconsin Baseball Association playoffs have been announced.

Haugen will hold regional games at Haugen Ball Park on Aug. 9-11, while Brill will travel to Wisconsin Rapids.

The WBA playoffs will have a new look this season. Earlier this year it was decided the WBA would split its teams into separate A and B divisions for the postseason with 24 teams in each division qualifying. The WBA last had two divisions in 1967.

Within the Independent League, Brill, Haugen, Hayward and Spooner are playing in division A, while Blue Hills is a division B team but did not qualify for the postseason.

At Haugen there will be two pools of three teams. The Knights are seeded seventh out of the 24 qualifying teams in division A. Also playing in Haugen's pool is the No. 11 Washburn Sharptails and the No. 21 Chippewa Falls Lumberjacks. In the second pool at Haugen is the third-seeded Osseo Merchants, No. 15 Spooner Cardinals and No. 23 Prescott Pirates.

Play for the Knights begins Aug. 9 at 8 p.m. against Chippewa Falls. Should the Knights win they will play Aug. 11 at noon against Washburn, while a loss will have them playing Washburn Aug. 10 at 3 p.m.

Brill is seeded 16th as it begins its postseason journey in Wisconsin Rapids. The Millers have No. 2 Viroqua Sox in their regional pool, along with the No. 22-seeded Eau Claire Rivermen. The Millers take the diamond Aug. 10 at 12:30 p.m. against the Rivermen. With a win Brill plays Viroqua Aug. 11 at 3:30 p.m. but with a loss would play Viroqua Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m.

The Hayward Hawks are the No. 19 seed and are in the Merrill regional.

Pool winners at each regional site advance to the WBA state finals, to be held for division A in River Falls Aug. 16-18. The defending WBA champion is the Tilden Tigers.
