Notre Dame to play at Wrigley Field after NHL’s Winter Classic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Wrigley Field in Chicago is poised to become ‘The Frozen Confines’ in January 2025. Notre Dame will play at the iconic ballpark.

As part of the NHL’s Winter Classic, a temporary ice rink will be built on the historic Northside baseball field. The 2019 Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues will play the Chicago Blackhawks there on December 31.

Three college games will follow as Notre Dame is set to face-off against Penn State and Ohio State will take on Michigan on January 3. The defending women’s national champion Ohio State will play Wisconsin in a women’s game on January 4.

All these teams were ranked in the top 20 last season and Michigan was in the NCAA Frozen Four. On the women’s side, Ohio State and Wisconsin have won the last five championships and played each other in the last two NCAA title games.
