You all want the workers for the so called “tourists”, but you all seem to forget Beaufort NC and Carteret County NC are not big major cities but small towns. Small towns are amazing and beautiful in their own right but using these tricks and gimmicks against the people are extortion when these small towns are being run like big cities and thoroughfares who have more resources and revenue to accommodate for their bigger populations. Just what is being accomplished by using these tactics to a small population, with 40 percent already below the poverty level in your small town. Without all the resources of a big city or a big population of a big city why run your small town as such? Just what is here that makes all this necessary? Restaurants? You can literally take your pick anywhere for those. Maybe instead of trying to be like everywhere else we embrace being a small town and change the nonsense back to common sense.

Isn’t the tax revenue supposed to ensure that the tax payers already have access to parking and other county resources because of their taxes? And why the increase in fees? We have an economy that has been dramatically impacted by inflation and a majority of our population is below the poverty line. In my opinion this is absolutely unnecessary and ridiculous.
