DEADWOOD, S.D. (KOTA) - A 68-year-old man died in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon, August 11. It happened two miles south of Deadwood. Larry Vincent Koneczny, driving a 2001 Harley Davidson, was traveling north on US 385 near mile marker 120 when he failed to negotiate the curve and went off the road to the right. RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO) — A man was sentenced to 25 years in the penitentiary for forcible rape of a woman in March 2023. Timothy King, 41, of Manderson in Oglala Lakota County, pled guilty of second-degree rape in January 2024, according to the Pennington County State’s Attorney’s Office. He was sentenced on Tuesday in Rapid City.
Brookings hosting Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Event on Saturday
Residents of Brookings, Brookings County and several nearby counties will have the opportunity to safely dispose of household hazardous waste at a free event on Saturday. The City of Brookings Regional Landfill will host the Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Event from 8 a.m. to 12 noon in the Dacotah Bank Center parking lot. The event is open to residents in Brookings, Deuel, Hamlin, Kingsbury, Lake and Moody counties, all of which are in the landfill’s service area.
