Grand Jury issues indictments for endangerment, drug trafficking crimes
A Christian County Grand Jury issued indictments for wanton endangerment, drug trafficking and abuse-related crimes on Friday. Charles Berry, age 27 of Hopkinsville, was indicted on multiple drug charges after Hopkinsville Police executed a probation violation warrant against Berry and reportedly found him to be in possession of drugs in May. Berry was indicted on charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in synthetic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Five Cats Named to Preseason Media Days All-SEC Teams
Five University of Kentucky football players have been named to the 2024 Preseason Media Days All-Southeastern Conference Teams. Junior defensive lineman Deone Walker and junior defensive back Maxwell Hairston were named first-team defense, while junior Barion Brown was named to the first team as a return specialist. He also earned a spot on the third team as an all-purpose player. Senior offensive lineman Marques Cox and senior linebacker Jamon “Pop” Dumas-Johnson were also named to the third team.

Eastern KY town plans mural to commemorate 2022 flood
A $20,000 grant from AARP Kentucky will help rebuild sidewalks in Jenkins damaged by the deadly 2022 flood that took the lives of 45 residents. Rachel Rosolina, communications director for the nonprofit Appalshop, explained because its headquarters were severely damaged by the flooding, staff has temporarily moved to neighboring Jenkins, where the grant will help improve walkability.

Owingsville pair charged in connection with drug trafficking investigation
The investigation began with the purchase of "illegal narcotics" out of Bath County, per law enforcement. Court documents show that a warrant was issued for 30-year-old Misty Helton and 25-year-old Sean Dingess of Owingsville in May.

Woman Charged After Toddler Overdoses On Drugs
A Hopkinsville woman was charged with criminal abuse after an investigation into symptoms her child had at the hospital Saturday night. Hopkinsville Police say a 20-month-old child was brought to the hospital with symptoms of an overdose and after running tests, the mother 25-year-old Jasmine Bartolo was taken into custody.
