TOWN OF DICKINSON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Broome County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Officers and Deputies will be adorned with a brand-new logo designed by a community member as they go pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office are raising money for local families battling cancer as they participate in the Pink Patch Project again this year.

In August, members of the community were invited to submit their ideas for the 2024 Pink Patch Project logo to be featured on this year’s fundraising merchandise. Ten logos were submitted and one those logos, Binghamton resident Erin Hagerman’s design was selected as this year’s winner.

The logo is featured on all the new fundraising merchandise featured on the online store. Community members can purchase items as a way to support the Pink Patch Project.

The Pink Patch Project is a national campaign bringing law enforcement and the community together to raise breast cancer awareness and funding to help local families fighting cancer.

In 2023, Corrections Officer Jennifer McPeek brought the project to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office. During the month of October, over 80 members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Corrections and Road Patrol divisions wore pink badges and patches and helped raise funds for local families battling cancer. Community members also supported the project by purchasing merchandise online. As a result, the Pink Patch Project raised over $4,500 for the Community Foundation and Tina Fund.

This year, all proceeds will go to Traci’s Hope, a local organization that supports local families fighting breast cancer by assisting with the cost of groceries, childcare or other expenses related to the fight against cancer.
