BINGHAMTON, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – Experience an evening of illusion, mind reading, and the paranormal, all to raise money to empower local women.

David Merlin, a renown illusionist and paranormalist, is in town for two magical performances this Saturday, to raise money for the YWCA of Binghamton.

Merlin has made appearances on America’s Got Talent and Penn and Teller Fool Us.

He started doing close up magic 30 years ago before transitioning into larger illusions.

Merlin says his show revolves around audience participation.

He says he’ll be able to read your mind and give you a chance to read his.

“It’s more of like a theatre of the mind. I’m going to be doing ESP experiments, telepathy, and mixed in with some grand illusions. You might see me cut myself in half. And on Saturday, I’m going to take a kid from the audience and actually make them levitate,” says Merlin.

Merlin builds all of the props that he uses on stage.

His performances are at 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Tri-Cities Opera Center on Clinton Street.

Tickets for adults are $45 and $35 for 12 and under.

    Purchase tickets at YWCABinghamton.org .
