AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Wednesday, the president of Augusta University gave his final state-of- the-university address.

Dr. Brooks Keel is retiring in June. He highlighted last year’s big moments, including the enrollment of more than 10,000 students and the official launch of Augusta University Online. He also talked about future goals for the university.

“We’ve laid an incredible foundation, we’ve gotten rid of all the baggage that came with the name changes and all that sort of stuff. We have a tremendous sense of pride here that we’ve never had before. The way our research is going now, it’s only going to get better. Our enrollment for next fall is going to be higher than this fall. There doesn’t appear to be an end in sight.”

Dr. Keel was appointed president of Augusta University in 2015.
