AUGUSTA (WJBF) – Wednesday morning local leaders and community partners held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Kroger’s new Eisenhower Crossing Marketplace.

Hundreds of people gathered for the grand opening of the 124 thousand square foot, 32 million dollar grocery store.

During the ceremony the company donated more than $5000 dollars to several schools, the American Legion and Golden Harvest Food Bank as part of its “Zero Hunger, Zero Waste” program.

Victor Smith, the Kroger Atlanta Division President to NewsChannel 6, “So we recognize our responsibility in the communities that we serve. And we have a great mission for “Zero Hunger, Zero Waste” in terms of eliminating hunger and waste in the areas that we serve. So our partnerships with food banks go a long way toward helping us achieve that mission, and we’re really, really pleased to be able to get that accomplished today.”

For the next week the Eisenhower Crossing Kroger Marketplace will have grand opening specials, including $.20 cents per gallon off of gas at the fuel center.
