HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WSAV)—An alligator was recorded seemingly having some fun, not in the sun, but in the puddles and rain on Hilton Head Island on Monday.

It’s a given that Tropical Storm Debby hasn’t just affected the people of the Southeast, but the wildlife, too. This “7-footer” alligator is probably having a better time than most people.

While driving Pope Avenue towards Coligny Circle, Robert Moose Rini spotted this potentially puddle-loving gator.

“Imagine walking around the corner and seeing that sucker,” Rini said in the video.

He said that he blocked off traffic so the alligator could pass, and play, and then watched it make it safely to a nearby lagoon to enjoy the rest of its evening.

Wildlife is likely to be confused or misplaced after the amount of rain and flooding that the Lowcountry and Coastal Empire are experiencing during Debby. Please remember to not disturb wildlife to the best of your ability and to let it continue on its way like this gator was able to.
