RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – School administrators are addressing a “bed bug exposure” involving a student at Monte Sano Elementary School.

A letter was sent out from the principal of Monte Sano Elementary School, and it stated that the student, who was identified as being in kindergarten, was exposed to bed bugs outside of the school, and after the student was examined, school administrators followed protocol by having all kindergarten classes removed from their normal classrooms for the day and having instruction in another location in the school.

The principal also states in the letter that the classroom items were examined by the school staff for any bedbug activity, parents and guardians of all the kindergarten students have received additional resources and information about the health protocol, and the belongings of the exposed student will remain on the school campus overnight to be treated.

School administrators examined all the students, and they say in the letter that no other grade levels were believed to be in danger of exposure to bedbugs.

According to the Monte Sano Elementary School principal, regular class activity for all students will resume on Thursday, August 15th.
