    Nancy Carson Library holding ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate renovations Aug. 30

    NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WJBF) – The Nancy Carson Library is planning to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of its nearly $2 million-dollar renovation.

    The ribbon cutting will take place at the library, located at 135 Edgefield Road in North Augusta on Friday, Aug. 30 at 4 p.m. South Carolina Senator Tom Young, Jr., County Council Chairman Gary Bunker and Aiken County Library Board of Trustees Chairwoman Kim Butler are expected to give remarks. Guests will be able to tour the library and light refreshments will be served.

    Renovations to the building began back in December 2023 , and have been completed on schedule, according to the library. The approximate $1.86 million in upgrades includes new study spaces, LED ceiling lighting, service desks, community meeting room and furnishings throughout.

    Funding for the library’s renovations was provided by Aiken County Government’s Capital Project Sales Tax IV program, Friends of the Nancy Carson Library Foundation, Aiken-Bamberg-Barnwell-Edgefield Regional Library System and the State of South Carolina.

    The library, which had been closed since Aug. 7 to deliver new furniture, will re-open to the public on Aug. 29, 2024.
