“I thought I was going to die”, Florida man sentenced to 10 Years for Assault, Battery of S.C. woman

TRENTON, S.C. (WJBF) – On August 15th, Patrick Brennan Scriven, a 36-year-old man from Florida, pleaded guilty to Assault and Battery First Degree.

A local judge sentenced Scriven to 10 years in prison. He is currently being transported to the South Carolina Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.

The case originated in January 2024 when concerned neighbors at an apartment complex in the Trenton reported suspicious activity.

Deputies from the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation and determined that Scriven had been assaulting his former girlfriend.

The victim suffered bruising and lacerations to her face and body, and Scriven had threatened to stab her with a knife and drown her in a bathtub.

After his arrest, the victim told deputies, “I thought I was going to die.”
