AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – A teen has been arrested and charged in connection with the Aug. 1 vehicle collision resulting in the death of motorcycle driver.

19-year-old Makayla Holton was charged with Misdemeanor Homicide by Vehicle, following the death of 21-year-old Daveon Sherrod who died on Aug. 4, as the result of injuries sustained in the Aug. 1 collision.

According to the accident report, investigators determined the motorcycle and Holton’s vehicle were both traveling south on Barton Chapel Road. Holton told investigators that the motorcycle “was swerving all over the roadway” and decided to pass Sherrod because she was unsure of what the driver was doing. Holton then entered the central left turn lane to pass Sherrod. While doing so, Sherrod swerved into the left lane, swiping Holton’s vehicle. Sherrod reportedly lost control and was ejected from the motorcycle.

The report states that the area of impact was in the central left turn lane. Sherrod, the driver of the motorcycle, was found at fault for failure to maintain lane. Holton was found at fault for improper use of the central left turn lane.

Sherrod was not able to provide a statement due to serious injuries before his death.

Why in the world is she being charged for why ? It clearly states that it’s the motorcycle fault. So why change her. I tell you what Richmond County is always trying to find something to change someone with this girl shouldn’t be charged and Richmond County y’all know this y’all need to drop them bc if I was her I would sue y’all and the motorcycle family I guess Richmond county likes being sued
