Over 10 ft. shark spotted feeding near Tybee shore Sunday

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) – Tybee Island Ocean Rescue (TIOR) said a 10+ ft. shark was spotted feeding about 100 yards offshore between 17th and 18th St. Sunday.

TIOR said their lifeguards have cleared the water from 15th to 18th Street to ensure everyone’s safety due to the nature in which the shark was feeding.

After the initial sighting, several smaller sharks were seen swimming close to shore according to TIOR, who said they are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates if anything changes.

TIOR said they normally don’t clear the water for sharks; however, it was cleared Sunday due to the nature of how the shark was feeding.
