Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk ceremony set for this Saturday

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Augusta Fire Department will commemorate the 23rd Anniversary of 9/11 on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at 8 a.m. with its annual run/walk event.

The entire Augusta community is invited to participate in the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk and ceremony Saturday morning to remember and recognize the sacrifices made on that day.

The ceremony will be on the Summerville Campus of Augusta University located at 2500 Walton Way in Augusta. The run will begin officially at 8:46 a.m., when the first plane, hijacked American Airlines Flight 11, was crashed into floors 93 to 99 of the North Tower of One World Trade Center at 8:46 a.m.

They are inviting the public to come together to honor the heroes of 9/11 23 years later and looking to have as many participants as possible.
