Paine College invites public to Fall Convocation, activities on Friday

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Paine College is inviting members of the community to participate in their Fall Convocation activities for the first time on Friday, Sept. 6.

“This is the first time during the fall semester when the entire campus family will gather to celebrate the opening of the academic year,” a press release from the college stated. “Faculty, staff, students, adjuncts, alumni, trustees and friends are invited to attend this event.”

Convocation begins at 11 a.m. in the Gilbert-Lambuth Memorial Chapel. Dr. Cheryl Evans Jones, President of Paine College, is expected to present achievements and address new and returning students.

After the remarks, attendees are invited to participate in a variety of events. Activities include The President’s Cookout at the grounds of the Peters Campus Center, on-site barbers to give haircuts to students, voter registration, a church fair consisting of local churches and a suit and tie giveaway from the Alumni Give Back Program.

Parking will be available in the parking lots of Gilbert-Lambuth Memorial Chapel and throughout campus.
