EVANS, Ga. (WJBF) – Westmont Elementary School hosted their dedication and ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of the brand new school off Oakley Pirkle Road. The brand new facility has been two years in the making, and was made possible by SPLOST dollars.

Westmont principal Angie Young joined School board officials in dedicating the new school building and told WJBF that the students and teachers are so grateful to be in the new building. “We know that our school year has already started off in a very cohesive way. The students, you can’t tell which students were from other schools or which teachers were from other schools.”

Principal Young also commended the teachers at Westmont for their collaboration in the smooth transition from the Columbia County Performing Arts Center and Junior Achievement Center into the new permanent school building. “Everybody just feels like one big family, and that was our goal . And so we just want to continue that Westmont family tradition, and just make sure the kids have an amazing school year.” Young said.
