AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – An arrest has been made in connection with a September 7 homicide on the 500 block of Hines Street.

On Sunday, September 8, 26-year-old Davante Parks was arrested and charged with Murder, 2 counts of Cruelty to Children in the 1st Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

According to warrants for Parks’ arrest, he was living at the address where the murder of 27-year-old Laquana Lang took place.

The warrants state that Lang’s children, including a 2-year-old and 5-year-old, were left alone in their home on the 500 block of Hines Street with the body of their dead mother for more than 4 hours following her shooting.

The shooting of Lang, according to the warrants for Parks’ arrest, took place at 4 a.m. Saturday, September 7. The Richmond County Coroner’s Office did not arrive on scene and pronounce her dead until 11:06 a.m. Saturday morning.

The warrants state that the 2-year-old and 5-year-old “had to crawl and walk through the blood of [their] deceased mother’s body” in order to get help.
