One dead following crash in Saluda County

UPDATE as of 3:47 p.m. – In a press release sent on Sept. 9, the Saluda County Coroner’s Office have identified 30-year-old Damion R. Gantt of Saluda as the deceased person in the crash. According to the coroner’s office, an autopsy is scheduled for later this week. The collision is being investigated by South Carolina Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office.

SALUDA COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – One person is dead after a crash in Saluda County.

It happened just after 9 p.m. Sunday on Pencreek Road near Dean Road.

That’s about a mile south of Saluda.

Investigators say the driver ran off the road and a culvert, gray wire, fence, overturned and hit 2 trees.

The driver was the only one in the car and died at the scene.

They have not been identified.
