Columbia County School District announce Teacher of the Year 2024-2025 finalists

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – Columbia County School District (CCSD) announced the Top Five Finalists for the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year on Sept. 10.

Here are the finalists:

• Kynisha Okonkwo – Harlem Middle School
• Tawana Odom – Harlem High School
• Tabitha Purvis – Euchee Creek Elementary School
• Debra Hunter-Green – Martinez Elementary School
• Rebecca Blumenthal – South Columbia Elementary School

The winner will be announced at the annual Teacher of the Year Celebration on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2024. According to CCSD, each school’s Teacher of the Year, including the top five finalists, will be recognized and awarded a variety of gifts.

CCSD’s Teacher of the Year will go on to represent Columbia County Schools state level.

The awards presentation and announcement of the winner will be livestreamed on the CCSD Livestream page on Oct. 3 at 6 p.m.
