    City of Augusta invites community to discuss Augusta parks

    AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Augusta’s Recreation & Parks Department is giving residents an opportunity to share ideas and concerns about the future of local parks next week.

    The department is hosting two public involvement meetings to gather input from the community. Their first meeting is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. at the McBean Community Center, located at 1155 Hephzibah-McBean Road in Hephzibah. The second meeting is on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Blythe Area Recreation Center, located at 3129 Highway 88 in Blythe.

    “We believe that our parks are essential to the quality of life in our community,” Charles
    Jackson, acting director of the Recreation & Parks Department. “By involving residents in the
    planning process, we can ensure that our parks meet the needs and preferences of everyone.”

    According to the city, meetings will include a presentation on the proposed park improvements, followed by an open discussion session.

    All residents welcome and encouraged to participate.
