AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Empty seats at Tuesday’s commission meeting meant no quorum, and no vote naming a city administrator, leaving behind some hard feelings.

“Obviously political games are going on anybody who doesn’t think they don’t know anything about politics,” said Commissioner Sean Frantom.

The five commissioners who did not attend the meeting all support Interim Administrator Takiyah Douse.

“I would like to see Ms. Douse stay around I think she has a lot to offer this community this government,” said Commissioner Francine Scott.

The mayor and five commissioners have the votes to name Tameka Allen, administrator, and they will try again next week, if there’s enough members there to take action.

“When you are elected, you realize six votes rule the day. There are six votes to move this government forward and we’re going to continue to push those same six votes until somebody shows up so we can move forward,” said Frantom.

Commissioner Scott missed Tuesday due to a family member’s health issues and agrees it’s time to move forward naming a permanent administrator.

“Whoever the administrator is as long as that person can move Augusta-Richmond County into the future, I’m fine with it,” said Scott.

    “And you’ll be there Tuesday?”

“I will absolutely be there Tuesday. Let’s pray Denise will be fine and I’ll be there,” she said.

So, expect a vote Tuesday on the administrator but don’t expect it to be a quiet one.

“It’s going to be hot yeah, for sure. At the end of the day, you got to understand that six votes is what moves this government forward,” said Frantom.

Commissioners will try again Tuesday to move forward on a permanent administrator.

who wants to be an interim placeholder for that length of time with absolutely no certainty of a permanent position. If she's performing her job satisfactory..make It permanent if not replace her....apparently some of those elected officials are being very "petty" in their obligated responsibilities....hence the sad reputation of Augusta Government Continues.
