AUGUSTA (WJBF) – A man is behind bars in Richmond County after he allegedly said he was going to blow up the Augusta Social Security Office.

Benjamin allegedly became angry after missing his number being called.

A staffer advised Benjamin to go back through the check-in procedure all over again, according to the incident report, to which Benjamin allegedly responded by becoming angrym walking out of the building, stating he would “wrap this whole building in a bomb and blow it up.”

The staffer contacted a supervisor, then called 911. The building was entirely evacuated with fire department and law enforcement on scene, including a K-9 explosive detection team.

Benjamin is charged with one count of Terroristic Threats and Acts and one count of False Public Alarm.

After one miserable experience at this SSA office, I vowed never again. On line, or I will just do without.
