MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — One person was killed in a Saturday morning collision involving a Myrtle Beach Fire Department vehicle en route to a call, officials said.

It happened just before 6 a.m. on S. Kings Highway. Capt. Jonathan Evans said the truck hit a car while traveling northbound responding to a structure fire call.

The patient received emergency medical treatment from fire department officials but died at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Two department employees involved in the wreck were uninjured. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.
