    11-year-old charged after making threats on social media, Aiken Co. Officials say

    AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) – An 11-year-old has been charged after allegedly making threats on social media.

    According to the Aiken DPS Facebook page, officials from the Aiken Department of Public Safety and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation Sunday after seeing threats circulating on social media.

    The post goes on to say, “Through that investigation, an 11-year-old has been charged with multiple counts of Student Threats & Threatening a Public Official and referred to South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.”

    Authorities thank everyone for promptly alerting school officials and law enforcement about the post.

    The say they feel there is no continued threat to schools as a result of the investigation.
